Wednesday: Saw them in Richmond with my brother. Beautiful moshing, divine. Karly was gently directing the vibe of the mosh pit, and some guy behind me was making fun of her for it, deeply annoying. But he ended up being a good time. Lamentably. Music was perfect, but that dancing will really stick with me, people looking out for each other.
Greg Mendez: Went to his show in BK. He looks kind of like John Green, or a sad clown. Crazy good, reminded me of seeing Adrianne Lenker, how serious it all felt, how precious, and I got caught up in it and started to cry. Also loved Scarlet Rae.

Tracey Emin: Me and Emily were obsessed with My Bed in college, so it was fate that this was happening while we were together in London. We were in a daze when we came out of the museum and stumbled around for a while talking about it. Nothing more exciting than shamelessness! Being at home in the worst of yourself, and knowing how to use the shame to get somewhere else.

Lover Love by Shu Lea Cheang: Morgan and I were having a frantic August day, but when we walked into this, it was all forgotten. Love when the viewer has to participate in the art. Love how we try to honor people, and how it's really in the doing, not the final product. Reminded me of Robert Frank and his daughter.
Pulling into this parking lot at Fort Tilden during a torrential downpour and watching rain fall over the windshield, and branches get pulled from trees and whipped around, and eventually the rain is so strong you can't see anything at all. And you are sitting in the middle seat, and it is nice actually, to be fully surrounded by other people. The rain stops after 15 minutes and you can leave.
